2024 Alaska Road Trip (Day 43)

This journal posting chronicles Day 43 of a road trip to Alaska and back with Diane, Kenny and Deneen.

Day 43 - Sunday August 4th

Sadly, we are on the way home, so today was another travel day.

We drove from Lake Creek Campground to Pine Lake Campground. We drove 139 miles/223 km today.

Sunrise at Lake Creek Campground was 5:58 AM and sunset at Pine Lake Campground was 10:37 PM. Remember that on our way up we stayed at Lake Creek campground and sunrise on the way up was 5:06 AM. So today the sunrise was 52 minutes later, everybody is happy.

Just another reminder of the rough road between Tok, AK and Haines Junction, Yukon, Canada. Note the broken axle on the boat trailer below.

The views on the drive south are still pretty good.

We have a nice campsite tonight.

Pine Lake Campground, near Haines Junction, Yukon, Canada

This campground has more families in it than we have had in a while, and very few bugs. It would definitely be a campground I would come back to.

There is a short boardwalk that had some nice views across the lake.
