2024 Alaska Road Trip (Day 50)

This journal posting chronicles Day 50 of a road trip to Alaska and back with Diane, Kenny and Deneen.

Day 50 - Sunday August 11th

Today we drove from Kitwanga River RV Campground to Beaumont Provincial Park, 219 miles/353 km.

Today was a mostly clear day and we were able to see some of the peaks on the mountains around town as we left.

As we left town, we almost immediately reached the Yellowhead Highway and took a left on it heading southeast towards Prince George.

We have been very lucky on this trip so far, and have had very little wildfire smoke. Now that we have made it farther south, we started to see smoke in the air as we passed Burns Lake, but it cleared up by the time we made it to our campsite at Beaumont Provincial Park. Beaumont Provincial Park is next to Fraser Lake.

Unfortunately not long after arriving at the campground, the wind shifted and the wildfire smoke rolled into camp.

We again had Diane’s delicious Rainbow Thai Noodle Toss dish for dinner. I think this is the only all vegetarian dish that we have had on the trip so far.
