2024 Alaska Road Trip (Day 46)
This journal posting chronicles Day 46 of a road trip to Alaska and back with Diane, Kenny and Deneen.
Day 46 - Wednesday August 7th
Today was our first full day at Tā Ch’ilā (Boya Lake) Provincial Park.
After a leisurely morning we went on a hike a short way around the lake to checkout a beaver dam that was reported to be there.

This photo that Diane took struck me as interesting with the way that the ripples in the lake water reflected multiple suns almost in the shape of a Christmas tree.

It was clear that this beaver dam had been here for some time and it was surprising that it was damming a large part of Boya Lake behind it at least 4 or 5 feet higher.

We saw a lot of old beaver activity, but no new activity.

The trail to the beaver dam and back went through a large and scenic Quaking Aspen grove. In Canada Quaking Aspen appear to be more commonly referred to as Trembling Aspen.

This small dog was camped next to us, and on several occasions we saw it having a great time fishing.

After getting back from the hike, Diane and Deneen hung out at the trailer, and Kenny and I rented a canoe ($20 CAD for two hours) and had a great time paddling around several of the islands in the lake.
The campground has a small number of old canoes and kayaks along with paddles and life vests near the day use area for rent by campers, on the honor system.
