2024 Alaska Road Trip (Day 41)
This journal posting chronicles Day 41 of a road trip to Alaska and back with Diane, Kenny and Deneen.
Day 41 - Friday August 2nd
After having finished the trip to Kennecott yesterday, today was a travel day, and in some ways feels like we are starting to head home for real.
We traveled back up the Edgerton Highway to the Richardson Highway and turned north. When we reached the junction with the Glenn Highway/Tok Cutoff we turn towards Tok, AK and our campground for this evening at Eagle Trail State Recreation Site near Tok. We drove a total of 184 mile/296 km.
Sunrise at Wrangle View RV Park was 5:12 AM and sunset at Eagle Trail State Recreation Site was 10:22 PM.
As we drove back on the Ederdon Highway Diane took this excellent photo of the Copper River where the Tonsina River flows into it.
We stopped at an overlook of the Copper River, however the overlook is falling into the Copper River.
As you can see below, the truck is starting to get pretty dirty…
The long stretch of rolling highway from Kenny Lake to the Richardson Highway. There is an Old Edgerton Highway heading north out of Kenny Lake that we looked at, but it is gravel, so we stuck with the path we came in.
Heading northeast towards Tok, AK on the Glenn Highway/Tok Cutoff.
Pasta and sauce for dinner tonight.
